THE REGION

The Riverana/Murray region of New South Wales is an excellent holiday location situated approximately 5.5 hours from Sydney, 3.5 hours from Melbourne and 3.5 hours from Canberra. Nestled on the border of Victoria and New South Wales regional towns of Albury/Wodonga and Wagga provide many opportunities to sample country life.

The area is well served by public transport and has daily flights, trains and buses from capital cities. With an extensive range of clubs, hotels and quality restaurants serving meal times in addition to a diverse range of wineries, the area is known for its culinary tastes.

A pleasant trip on a paddle steamer on Lake Mulawala or a visit to Glenrowan (Ned Kelly – historical town) provides all ages with interesting activities. The area is known for its many festivals including Bright Autumn leaves, Deniliquin Ute Muster, Benalla Rose Gardens, and the Corowa Australia Day program.

Sightseeing is the main attraction with the Murray River and the Alps taking primary positions. There are many sporting programs within the region including marathons and other public activities like the Nail Can Hill run.

Main towns like Albury, Wodonga, Wagga and Shepparton provide shopping opportunities whilst the smaller towns of Corowa, Yarrawonga, Beechworth, Holbrook and Tallangatta have specialty shops of choice. Priority access to this facility is reserved for people with a disability accompanied by appropriate carers. Access is also available on a commercial basis to people or families wanting to enjoy the local attraction offered by the region or play various sports in carnivals etc.

Located at 85 Guy Street, Corowa and part of the Corowa Social Enterprise Centre is an accredited bus service.

  • 49 seat, 26 seat and 19 seat buses available.
  • Pick up Albury railway/airport.
  • Plenty of things to see in and around Albury, Corowa and surrounding districts.

Group bookings are welcomed and we can arrange support accomodation.
We can also cater for your bus outings.

HOLIDAY UNITS

Blue Dolphin Holiday Units

A special accomodation project of the Challenge Foundation – supporting people with disabilities.

Beautiful Batemans Bay, the perfect holiday location and is situated approximately 3.5 hours drive from Sydney and 5 hours from Albury/Wodonga.

Situated on the southeast coast of New South Wales, the area is a popular tourist attraction. Public transport services operate train and bus connections with flights to Moruya airport regularly. Bus transport is also available from Canberra on a daily basis.

A number of modified recreational/leisure programs are available at the units designed to provide access by people with a disability to community based services, including clubs and places of interest.

Respite care programs are also available on request with support programs tailored to meet individual needs on a user pays basis.

The Challenge Foundation of NSW Ltd. has specifically designed the units to meet the needs of people with disabilities.

These are two self-contained two bedroom units with bathroom and lounge/dining rooms to accommodate five people per unit and one three-bedroom unit to accommodate eight. Each unit has a fully operational kitchen with all amenities. Bed linen is not supplied (sheets, pillowcases, etc). However, blankets and doonas are.

Each unit has its own private entry and is reverse-cycle air conditioned and furnished. There is ample off street parking at the front of the units, a shared laundry and an undercover BBQ area.

Priority access to this facility is reserved for people with an intellectual disability accompanied by appropriate carer(s). Access to the facility is also available to people, and their families, who work in the disability industry requiring a low cost holiday venue or respite location. Commercial booking is undertaken during the peak holiday periods (eg. Christmas holidays).
